I Thank Him
(Words and music by Diana Jacobs - Click title to view lyrics)
February 27, 2004
Diana wrote this song for the group, Jacobs' Ladder. "I Thank Him" was the title cut of the group's 2004 album, and it was nominated for a SAMY (Syracuse Area Music Award) that year in the category of "best recording." The album was recorded at Concord Studios in Syracuse. Diana's vocal style on this song is characteristic of the songs on her new solo album, but the new album has a more organic instrumentation (piano and vocal only).
I Thank Him
Words and music by Diana Jacobs
In those quiet moments when no one feels my pain
And I need reassurance that joy will come again
I get down on my knees and I give it all to Him
He fills my soul with comfort and heals me from within
And I thank Him, not because I should
But because He’s worthy of more than I ever could
I will praise Him with every breath that my soul breathes
And I thank Him for loving me
When I think of where I’d be without His mercy and grace
Without my Savior near me where I can seek his face
Oh it brings me to my knees and I see how I’ve been blessed
By a God who reveals to me His truth and faithfulness
And I thank Him; yes I do, not because I should
But because He’s worthy, He’s so worthy, yes He is, of more than I ever could
I will praise Him with every breath that my soul breathes
And I thank Him for loving me
I thank Him for blessing me, for saving me
Don’t you want to know the comforter and friend?
The one and only living God
The beginning and the end
I’m so glad I know Jesus; it is well with my soul
To be forgiven of my sins and loved forever more
And I thank Him; yes I do, not because I should
But because He’s worthy, He’s so worthy, yes He is, of more than I ever could
I will praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him
With every breath that my soul breathes
And I thank Him for loving me
Oh I thank Him for blessing me, for loving me, for saving me
And I thank Him for being there for me every day and every night
Through every storm he held my tight
He’s been so good to me; I want to praise His holy, holy, holy name
Halleluiah Jesus, Halleluiah, Halleluiah
And I thank Him for loving me
